Favorite Summer Lippies – High End & Drug Store

peach coral lip

If there’s one makeup product I can never get enough of it’s lipstick/lip gloss/lip balm…anything I can swipe on my lips, really. If I have to run to my local Rite Aid to grab shampoo I have to exercise a lot of self restraint to leave with only what I came there for (and 9 times out of 10 I fail at this and leave with some sort of lip product).

This summer it has been all about the pinky peachy lip shines and glosses for me and I have found holy grail lippies at the department store AND the drug store. Here are my favorites that haven’t left my handbag since I’ve purchased them:

Tom Ford Lip Shine in Frolic: Oh, Tom Ford. You get me every time. You are so expensive and yet I have loved every single item I’ve purchased from you, and this lip shine is no exception. The forumla is the thickest out of all lip shines I’ve tried (Revlon Lip Butters, Chanel Rouge Coco Shines, Maybelline Color Whispers, etc.), and is by far the creamiest and most moisturizing. The packaging is uber sleek, too! Frolic is a beautiful pale, creamy peachy pink with very subtle glitter running through it. Although it only wears for about an hour, this doesn’t bother me as I do not mind reapplying. The scent is the same as Ford’s lipsticks and glosses, just a hint of sugar/vanilla.

Mac Cremesheen Glass in Richer, Lusher: I had to stop by my local Mac not one, not two but THREE times to pick this beauty up because it had been out of stock. I am not surprised! This is a gorgeous creamy peach with glitter so subtle that it is almost undetectable. I love Mac’s Cremesheen’s because they pack the same shine as the lip glasses, but are not nearly as sticky. The formula is a pleasure to put on, has a slight vanilla fragrance, and it lasts about two hours on me.

L’oreal Colour Riche Lipstick in Sunset Angora: This pinky coral is definitely the most pigmented of the bunch and lasts about three hours on me without needing to reapply. I love this lipstick’s ultra creamy formula and I especially love how pigmented it is without being the least bit drying. This color works beautifully paired with a champagne color on the eyes and a peach tint on the cheeks.

NYX Butter Gloss in Peaches and Cream: Do not be deceived by the name – this is definitely a bright warm pink! I don’t think there are enough good things I can say about these little tubes; they are pigmented, feel like butter when applied (as indicated by the name), and are so reasonably priced! For those of you out there who loath the scent of NYX’s Megashine glosses, do not fear! These babies have a slight vanilla fragrance, much more pleasant than the smell of a cherry cough drop. Head over to your local ulta to pick up one or five of these for $4.99 each!

Maybelline Color Whisper in I Crave Coral: This is a warm coral that I find perfect for everyday wear. You can swipe on one layer for a subtle coral shine, or build the color up for a more bold lip look. The Color Whispers have great pigmentation, last about two hours on me and do not have a detectable scent. They are also very moisturizing, and impart a gorgeous shine!

Have you tried any of these lipsticks/glosses? Let me know in the comments!

These look lovely! I am very much the same when it comes to exercising (well, failing to exercise) self restraint at my local drugstore :S I figure it’s fate if there’s something on display that I can’t resist 🙂
The Maybelline Whispers have only just been released here in Australia and I think they’re super cute – I might have to try one out next time I run an errand to get toothpaste!
