Monthly Favorites: October 2013

Happy Halloween and welcome to my first ever monthly favorites post! For my favorites this month I have included products that I have loved for a while, and a couple new items that quickly made their way onto my top shelf. Let’s get started:

Tom Ford Black Orchid: This is my absolute favorite Autumn/Winter fragrance. It is sultry, spicy, and 100% sexy. I’m not great at describing scents but I’m telling you – it is a winner. I almost always get compliments when I wear it, from both men and women. If you have yet to encounter this gorgeous fragrance, please go out and sample it!

Bumble and Bumble Thickening Dry Spun Finish: Like I’ve said in previous posts, I have thin hair that can go flat pretty quickly. This product is the antidote to thin, flat hair – a few sprays to the roots and va-va-voom! Lite, voluminous hair in an instant. Unlike other thickening sprays, this doesn’t leave your hair feeling sticky, crunchy, product-y, etc.

Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation: My skin has been acting up a bit this past month, and when that happens I always reach for this foundation. You only need a small amount of it because it is quite thick, however, blended out it creates a flawless, smooth finish that doesn’t appear cakey in the least.

Jouer Sunswept Mattifying Bronzer: This really has been my favorite bronzer for several months now. It is just the perfect shade – not orange, not too brown. It is also perfect if you’re looking for a shimmerless bronzer. I apply it with a big fluffly brush to achieve a sun-kissed, natural glow.

Nars Blush in Sin: This has been my go-to blush ever since the weather started changing. It looks a bit scary in the pan but I’m telling you, it never looks scary once applied! It creates the most beautiful plumy-berry glow to the cheeks.

L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Bronzed Taupe: This eyeshadow is so versatile – you can apply a small amount to the lids to create a wash of color for daytime, or really smoke it out and apply it more heavily to the outer-v and lower lash line for evening. It also looks great on its own or blended over a lighter shimmery shade, like Mac Naked Lunch or All That Glitters.

MAC Eye Kohl in Teddy: I’ve been applying eyeliner to my waterline during the day more often, and this golden brown shade is a great alternative to black.

Revlon Lip Butter in Pink Truffle: This is the first lip butter I purchased, and I love it even more now than when I first applied it. I think it is the perfect neutral, my lips but better shade for fall and it looks great with any eye look. I also love that if I am carrying this around, there is no need to have a lip balm on hand since this product is ultra-moisturizing.

Sisley Phyto Gloss in Nude: I personally think that you can never go wrong with a great nude gloss – it looks chic both with a bare face, and with a full on smokey eye. This gloss is the star of my nude gloss collection; it is incredibly smooth and long-lasting without being sticky, and has light reflective qualities that draw attention to the lips and give the appearance of a fuller pout.
