The Quick Review: Almay Gloss Balms

I am back for another Sunday post – a review of Almay Color + Care Gloss Balms. The two colors that I have are Blooming, a light, baby pink, and Just Plum, a sheer berry-plum.

I love the packaging of these liquid balms – sleek and compact, perfect for throwing in a handbag before running out the door. I am also a fan of the doe-foot applicator, it is very easy to use and you don’t have to deal with a brush that frays easily. I also love how these look and feel (and smell! slight sugary scent) on the lips. They are very comfortable to wear and feel extremely moisturizing. Once applied lips look glossy, which is a huge plus considering the product isn’t one bit sticky or tacky.

The one thing I don’t love about this product is the color-payoff – in the tube each color looks quite pigmented, but on the lips you get a sheer wash of color. You can, however, build the color up after a couple layers of product. Still, though, I guess with a name like “gloss balm” intense color isn’t what should be expected.

Overall, I really like this product and am very happy with the two colors I own. Blooming is a great everyday color – perfect for school, and Just Plum  is perfect for applying over-top of a deeper lip color for a little extra shine.
