Lip Crayon Love

Ever since Clinique came out with its Chubby Stick, both high end and drugstore brands have come out with their own versions of this twist up lip product – and I can see why. They are easy to use, can be applied on the go without a mirror or lip brush and don’t require sharpening (genius!). My favorite drugstore lip crayon is Revlon’s Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain, a moisturizing balm that really brings it in the color arena, especially with the recent launch of the Matte Balms and Lacquer Balms.

This product really does what it says it does – it moisturizes (no chapstick/lip balm required), feels comfortable and light-weight on the lips, and delivers buildable color that really lasts. I am also a huge fan of its refreshing mint scent. My favorite shade out of the entire range is 001 Honey, a mauve-pink that is a couple of shades darker than my natural lip color. The second shade I own of the original balm stains is 055 Adore, a deep red with subtle shimmer. I love wearing this shade sheered out on my lips and mascara only on my eyes.

The Matte Balm color I picked up is 205 Elusive, a gorgeous neutral pink. Unlike the original formula, these don’t have a shine finish – they are purely matte. The texture is a creamy matte, so they don’t feel drying on the lips or accentuate any fine lines or cracks. I think that this shade looks particularly chic with just a bit of black gel liner.

I decided to purchase two of the Lacquer Balm shades, 105 Demure, a light pink with glitter, and 110 Coquette, a hot pink with glitter. These are significantly glossier than the original formula, and I would liken them to the Tarte Lipsurgences. Out of the three formulas, these deliver the most moisture and my lips feel significantly smoother after application.

Have you tried any of the Kissable Balm Stains?
