Holiday Series: Work Party

Welcome to my Holiday Party Makeup Series! Over the next few weeks I am going to post a few different looks that are appropriate for different types of holiday parties, the first in the series being a work party. This look is also great for everyday – it accentuates the eyes and lips without being too harsh. It would also be a good makeup for a first date over the holidays, or for meeting your significant other’s parents for the first time.

Face: I applied Rimmel Match Perfection foundation to my face with my fingers for a more natural effect, and then used Maybelline Fit Me concealer under my eyes and on any blemishes. To finish my base I applied Rimmel Stay Matte powder to my T-Zone.

Cheeks: To add a bit of a contour I applied Mac’s Harmony blush under my cheekbones and on my temples with a large fluffy brush. To achieve a natural flushed look I applied Nyx blush in Pinched to the apples of my cheeks.

Eyes: Using the Bobbi Brown Rich Chocolate eye palette I first applied the light shimmer shade all over my lids up to the brow bone. I then took the brown sparkle shade and applied it with a fingertip to the center of my lids. Next, taking the second darkest brown shade, I used a crease brush to apply it to the crease of my eyes, and then took it onto my lower lash line with a smudge brush. To add a bit more definition I used the darkest shade in the palette to line my upper lash line. For my lashes I applied a few coats of my trusty Maybelline Rocket mascara.

Lips: For a gorgeous neutral pink pout I first applied Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Istambul, and then added Nyx Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Beige over top.

Thank you so much! I really love this palette – I think you’d be able to achieve a similar look with drugstore brands as well. I am testing out one of the Nyx Love in Paris palettes and I think the quality is just as good!
