During a recent trip to CVS I was perusing the holiday aisle when all of a sudden I looked up and saw a display of Maybelline Baby Skin. My first thought was “why the heck is it alongside Christmas ornaments?” and my second thought was “that is the cutest packaging I have ever seen!” This light blue-mint is one of my favorite colors, and so I grabbed one off the display without so much as glancing at the description.
This product claims to blur the look of pores without clogging them, as well as smooth and refine skin’s appearance. The formula has a gel-like consistency, and it reminds me of a mattifying/pore-refining product tester that I had received with purchase from a department store (if I remember correctly it was by Chanel). I applied the product to my skin after having applied moisturizer and I saw instant results. My skin (especially around my cheeks and nose) is quite red right after I take a shower, and this gel eliminated some (but not all) of my redness, as well as made my pores on and around my nose appear smaller.
Regarding the product’s claim to blur imperfections and smooth skin – I have to say that it delivers. It creates a wonderful base to apply foundation over, and I noticed that my foundation blended more evenly after having applied Baby Skin. To me this product also has somewhat of a mattifying effect and I’ve noticed that I have been reaching for my powder less during the day.
All in all – this is a great little product and I think it is definitely worth checking out if you experience redness, have large pores around your nose/cheeks, and have combination or oily skin. I also think it would be nice for any time of skin type as a base underneath foundation.
This product doesn’t seem to be widely available online at the moment (only found it here) – but look for it in your local drugstores (and if it’s not in the beauty section, perhaps it will be hidden amongst Christmas decorations!).
