I first heard about Jouer Cosmetics while I was watching one of Ingrid’s (Missglamorazzi) YouTube videos. She was raving about the brand’s Matte Moisture Tint, and since I trust her recommendations, I decided to check out Jouer’s website. I couldn’t believe that I had never heard of Jouer – all of the products seemed right up my alley. I also loved how you can purchase what I would call ‘a look in a box’ – perfectly edited products that you can purchase as a collection and spend less than if you were to buy the makeup items individually.
This past summer I made my first Jouer purchase – the Mattifying Bronzer in Sunswept (which I have used almost everyday since), Highlighter in Tiare, and Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Sorbet. I instantly fell in love with the packaging; it is both innovative and compact, very travel friendly. The blushes, bronzers, shadows, tints, highlighters and lip glosses can connect to one another, this way you can create your own custom palette without having to search through your makeup bag for each individual product.
I haven’t used a Jouer eyeshadow until this week and after using the powder shadows in shades Espresso and Licorice consistently since I received them, I have to say I am impressed. They feel incredibly smooth and blend beautifully. For a soft daytime smokey eye I have been washing Espresso over my lids and and smudging licorice on my upper lash line, and blending into the outer-v.
Aside from the bronzer, the stars of Jouer Cosmetics (to me) are the lip glosses and lipsticks. The two lip glosses I recently added to my collection are Divine, a soft nude rose that is an absolute handbag necessity for everyday, and Peony, a gorgeous cool pink-lilac that livens up the face with one swipe. The formula of these beauties is perfect for those of you who cringe at the thought of a sticky gloss – they are uber creamy, delightfully moisturizing and deliver semi-opaque color. I can’t wait to try more colors, especially Riviera, a shimmering red that is perfect for this time of year!
I have seen the Jouer lipsticks featured in various magazines and I am so happy that I finally decided to purchase one. The shade I own is Meredith, a nude-pink perfect for everyday. This is a bold statement to make, but I think that the Jouer Hydrading Lipstick is my new favorite lipstick formula. Usually I find that if a lipstick is very moisturizing, it slips around and doesn’t have great lasting power. The Jouer lipstick, however, has a creamy, thick consistency that hugs lips with moisture and stays put for hours. I have my eyes on a couple other shades that will need to be purchased in the near future – I have my eyes on you, Simone and Sophia!
All in all, I think that Jouer is an excellent brand that produces the highest quality makeup. I look forward to eventually getting my hands on the much-raved about Matte Moisture Tint, as well as more of the gorgeous lipsticks and glosses!
