The Look: Lana Del Rey

Happy Sunday! Today I bring you a Lana Del Rey inspired makeup look – it has a very 60’s feeling and incorporates a dramatic winged cat-eye and a pale matte lip. Here’s what I did, I hope you enjoy!

Face: I applied Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation with fingertips, making sure to blend well. I concealed underneath my eyes with Maybelline Fit Me Concealer and powdered with Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, but only after I finished my eyes.

Eyes: I first primed my eyes with Urban Decay Primer Potion, and then applied a small amount of Mac Charcoal Brown to my lids. To contour my eyes, I applied Mac Mystery in a windscreen wiper motion to my crease. For the liner I used Maybelline’s Gel Liner, and prior to drawing the wing I made a thin line from my inner corner to the edge of my eye. I think that the easiest way to draw a wing that suits your eye shape is to start with your brush at the corner of your lower lash line, and draw the line up as if you were extending that line (I hope that makes sense!). To fill in the wing, I then start from the outer most point, and draw inwards to thicken the line up. I also used the gel liner to tight line my eyes to further emphasize my lash line. To accentuate my lower lash line I smudged Jouer Powder Eyeshadow in Licorice all the way across. Lana seems to have a white or cream colored pencil on her waterline when she wears this type of look, so I used Nars Eye Pencil in Rue Bonaparte. Finally, to finish off the eyes I applied several coats of L’Oreal Lash Out Butterfly Mascara to top and bottom lashes.

Cheeks: Lana doesn’t seem to be wearing blush when she is wearing this look, so I only contoured my cheeks using Mac Blush in Harmony.

Lips: For the perfect nude, matte pout I applied Nars Satin Lip Pencil in Biscayne Park.
