The Look: Emilia Clarke Natural Makeup

I’ve wanted to do an Emilia Clarke look for two reasons: 1. I am completely Game of Thrones obsessed and 2. Emilia’s character on Game of Thrones, Daenerys (aka mother of dragons), is the baddest chick in the history of television (to me, at least). I’ve seen a few interviews with Emilia and she seems incredibly sweet and down to earth, not to mention drop dead gorgeous.

For this makeup I looked at various photos of Emilia on the red carpet and took inspiration from this photo where she looks particularly ethereal. The look she usually goes for is very neutral and wearable; in a lot of the images I came across she is wearing a light shimmer shade across her lids, pink glowing cheeks and a natural pink or nude lip. I think that this is a great makeup for everyday and for any occasion – from school to a fancy dinner!

Here’s what I did, I hope you enjoy!

Face: As usual, I applied Rimmel Match Perfection to my face with fingertips, and concealed underneath my eyes with Maybelline Fit Me Concealer. I then powdered my t-zone with Rimmel Stay Matte Powder.

Eyes: Mac All That Glitters Eyeshadow – I applied this eyeshadow all over my lids and onto the inner corners of my eyes (a great drugstore alternative would be the Browbone shade of Wet n Wild’s trio in Silent Treatment); Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Crayon in Blacquer – I tightlined my eyes with this gel crayon liner to accentuate my lash line; Maybelline The Falsies Mascara – I applied two coats to my upper and lower lashes.

Eyebrows: If you’re going for an Emilia/Daenerys inspired look, you’ve got to accentuate those brows! I filled in my brows a bit more than usual using an angled liner brush and Mac Eyeshadow in Charcoal Brown.

Cheeks: Emilia always looks like she is glowing from within, so I wanted to use all cream products on the cheeks. I used Le Metier de Beaute’s Creme Fresh Tint for Lip and Cheek in Poppy on the apples of my cheeks, patting the color in with a fingertip (use Nyx Cream Blush in Glow for a drugstore option). For a pretty glow I applied one of my favorite highlighters, Jouer’s highlighter in Tiare, to my cheekbones.

Lips: For a soft pink lip I applied Revlon’s Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake, and then blended the color out with a fingertip.

How do you like the Marc Jacobs highliner gel crayon? I really want to try something from his line but I haven’t decided since it’s so pricey!

It is pricey – but I absolutely love this eyeliner. It is waterproof – and is the only eyeliner I’ve used that doesn’t gather or smudge at the outer or inner corners of the eyes by the end of the day (re: no raccoon eyes!).

I may have to try it out then, I’ve been looking for a new liner! : )

I love the makeup and am a huge fan of Game of Thrones as well! You did a great job capturing Emilia’s look. I think the le metier de beaute cream blush looks gorgeous. I have acne prone skin though and am afraid to try a cream based product but love this glowy look, so I’m wondering if I should take my chances since it looks so good!
