Happy Sunday! I hope that everyone has been having a wonderful weekend. I went to a spin class this morning for the first time in five weeks and I can’t tell you how great it feels to get back into my normal routine.
Being that Valentine’s Day is a little over a month away, I decided that I am going to do a Valentine’s/Date series – a total of three posts with the first one being today’s first date makeup look. For a first date I think that things should generally be kept simple in the makeup, clothes and hair arenas. However, if you normally don’t wear any makeup or if you normally wear much more makeup than this – feel free to tone it down or amp it up depending on your own personal style [don’t hide who you are!]. Here’s what I did, I hope you enjoy!
Face: Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation – I applied a small amount of this to my face and blended in with my fingers for a natural finish [if you have great skin or usually don’t wear any foundation – just conceal underneath your eyes and on any blemishes]; Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer – blended underneath my eyes in an upside-down triangle shape; Rimmel Stay Matte Powder – I applied a small amount of this just through the center of my face.
Cheeks: I kept things very natural on the cheeks and skipped bronzer and highlighter. I applied Le Metier de Beaute Creme Fresh Tint for Lip and Cheek in Poppy to the apples of my cheeks, tapping the product in with my middle finger.
Eyes: Le Metier de Beaute True Colour Eyeshadow in Jojo – you know the phrase “my lips but better?” Well, to me this eyeshadow is a “my eyes but better” shade – it adds such a pretty natural sheen to the lids. I applied Jojo all over my lids, blending into the crease, as well as smudged it onto my lower lash line. Mac Eyeshadow in Mystery – I used this shadow as an eyeliner and applied it to my upper lash line using an angled brush; Le Metier de Beaute Dualistic Eye Pencil in Tamarack – I applied this golden-bronze liner to my waterline for a little extra definition; Mac Eyeshadow in Shroom – I applied a tiny amount of this shade to the inner corners of my eyes for a wide-eyed effect; Maybelline The Falsies Mascara – I applied a few coats to my upper lashes, and just one coat to my lower lashes.
Eyebrows: I would skip doing anything to your eyebrows if you’ve never tried filling them in before. If filling in eyebrows is a part of your everyday routine, then I would suggest using an eyeshadow and an angled brush for a first date look because I think powder [as opposed to a wax based pencil] looks the most natural. The shade I usually go for is Charcoal Brown by Mac.
Lips: For a first date I would go for a natural, rosy lip, and I think that Nyx Black Label Lipstick in Bling is perfect for achieving this type of look. You can leave the lipstick as is, but I almost always prefer to wear a gloss overtop so I went with Mac Plushglass in Posh It Up.
Hair: To achieve soft, touchable locks I love using this hair mask by Macadamia. I wouldn’t go crazy with lots of product or tools for a first date – instead, give yourself a nice blowout by drying your hair in sections with a round brush.
