Pretty In Pink

The closer we get to Valentine’s Day the more I find myself reaching for pink lip glosses and lipsticks, which is a welcomed change from my usual nude-peach lip look. What I love about pink lip colors is that they can brighten your face without applying any other makeup and add a certain prettiness that I think nude lips can’t achieve. Below I have listed four of my favorite pink lip colors and glosses as of late; they are all quite different, but gorgeous in their own right.

  1. Nars Orgasm Lip Gloss: there is something that I find so special about pink lip glosses with gold shimmer. The fine gold particles in this gloss really catch the light and make lips look gorgeous and full – and who wouldn’t want that?! To me this lip gloss feels slightly tacky on the lips, but is still very comfortable to wear. I enjoy wearing Orgasm on its own, or over neutral lipsticks like Mac’s Jubilee.
  2. Bobbi Brown Pale Pink Lip Gloss: this shade is the most sheer of the bunch and like Orgasm, has very fine shimmer running through it. Bobbi Brown’s lip glosses are slightly sticky, but it is because of this that it is long-lasting on the lips. I think that this shade is the perfect compliment to a brown smokey eye.
  3. Revlon Lip Butter in Sweet Tart: this is a beautiful brighter pink that can be layered for a bolder look, or sheered down for a just bitten, just kissed effect. The lip butters are so great because they are effortless – you can throw them in your bag without having to worry about a lip balm, and apply them on the go without a mirror. I have also been enjoying wearing Sweet Tart sheered out with a brown smokey eye.
  4. Revlon Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie: I don’t know why it has taken me so long to purchase this shade, but I am so glad that I did a couple of weeks ago. Raspberry Pie is one of the most gorgeous deep pink-raspberry shades I have ever laid eyes on! It delivers opaque color with one swipe, and I enjoy wearing it this way with a neutral shadow like Naked from the Naked palette or Mac’s Charcoal Brown swept over the lids with a bit of black gel liner. My favorite way to wear Raspberry Pie, though, is by dabbing it on the lips and then blotting a couple of times to achieve a beautiful, long-lasting pink-berry stain.

The camera on my iPhone! Haha I know that’s awful, I just can’t afford a nice camera at the moment…but I have been trying to take better photos by taking advantage of natural light. Also, the vsco cam app is amazing!
