January 2014 Favorites

It’s that time again – and I always say this to my self but I truly cannot believe another month has gone by. But with January behind us we’re inching closer to spring and warm weather, right? [polar vortex, be gone!] For this month’s favorites I have a few products that were new to me this month, and some that I have loved for a while. [and of course my favorites list wouldn’t be complete without three lip products!] Let me know your January favorites in the comments below!

  • Urban Decay Naked3 Palette: the array of pinks, golds, mauves and taupes in this palette make it the ideal product for creating a soft, romantic smokey eye. Although there is some fall out with a few of the shades, this palette is definitely worth the splurge due to the excellent color payoff of all of the shadows and the fact that they all blend together like a dream.
  • Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light: this powder not only keeps my face shine-free throughout the day, but also blurs imperfections without ever appearing cakey.
  • Jouer Mattifying Bronzer in Sunswept: even though I mention this bronzer in almost every post, I had to include it in my January favorites because I have literally used it every single day! If you’re looking for a new bronzer I can’t recommend this one enough – it is the perfect bronze shade [not orange or muddy] and I am nowhere close to hitting pan despite my using it almost everyday since I purchased it this past summer.
  • Revlon Photo Ready Skinlights: this is another product that I have used almost everyday since I purchased it at the beginning of January. I mix a drop of it with my foundation for a more natural, glow-y effect, as well as dab a tiny amount onto the tops of my cheekbones for an added highlight.
  • Rande James Concealer: this compact concealer has been a handbag staple, as it is the perfect size for throwing in a purse for quick touch-ups throughout the day. The formula of this long-wearing concealer is thick and creamy, and completely covers blemishes and dark spots with only a tiny amount of product.
  • Le Metier de Beaute Creme Fresh Tint for Lip and Cheek in Poppy: I have had this cream blush for a few years, and recently brought it back into my everyday rotation. Poppy is the perfect pop of pink for everyday, and its creamy, blendable formula makes cheeks look fresh and glow-y.
  • Marc Jacobs Magic Marc’er Precision Pen: this black liquid liner is perfect for creating an easy cat-eye. The felt tip makes it incredibly easy to work with, and the waterproof formula ensures that your liner will stay put all day without smudging.
  • Revlon Lip Butter in Sweet Tart: this month I have been trading in my nude and peach lipsticks and glosses for those of the pink variety – and this moisturizing lip butter is neutral enough for everyday, with a hint of brightness that will light up the entire face.
  • Jouer Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Peony: just like Sweet Tart, Peony has such a gorgeous, face brightening quality. I have been enjoying wearing it with bare lids and just a bit of mascara, or with a full-blown smokey eye.
  • Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lip Gloss in Heartbreaker: I have been going crazy over pink glosses with gold shimmer, and I think this is one of the best of its kind out there. Although the gloss feels a bit tacky, it definitely has moisturizing qualities and my lips look a teency bit more plump when I have it on [to me, at least!]. I am also a massive fan of its vanilla-mint scent!
