Sunday Style: Dressed Down

Happy Superbowl Sunday! I figured I’d have a go at continuing with these fashion-type posts on here every Sunday, so welcome to the second installment of Sunday Style! And yes, even though it is Superbowl Sunday I won’t be donning  a team jersey  – I’m very neutral about the two teams playing today and to be honest, I’m more of a Tennis girl [Vamos Rafa!]. That said, I am going to a little party and want to look presentable. Recently, I have been loving wearing crisp button downs and dressing them down with distressed denim or black skinnies – I feel put together without looking like I’m going to work.

I bought this fitted non-iron dress shirt from Brooks Brothers over two years ago, and it still looks brand new. These shirts are an investment but they are classic and dry perfectly crease-free. To dress this shirt down I am pairing it with my favorite pair of distressed jeans from my favorite store to buy denim – American Eagle, and the best black booties from Madewell. I may be a bit old to shop at American Eagle, but their jeans are great quality for a really affordable price and all of the styles I have tried have fit me perfectly. To accessorize I am going with this long pearl necklace from a little shop in DC, silver bangle from David Yurman and watch from Tissot. The handbag I’ve been carrying with me on the weekends is my beloved Mulberry Bayswater Bag. It is a very neutral oak, so it goes with just about anything, and spacious enough to fit anything I could ever want to bring with me.

For makeup I went for a simple, smokey brown eye. I used and my Tom Ford Eyeshadow Quad in Cognac Sable, applying the medium brown shade on my lids and then smudging the darkest shade on my upper and lower lash lines. On my lashes I went with my usual Maybelline The Falsies, and on cheeks I used my power duo – Jouer Mattifying Bronzer in Sunswept and Le Metier de Beaute Creme Fresh Tint for Lip and Cheek in Poppy. For lip color I went with a lipstick that has quickly become my go-to, everyday shade – Tom Ford Lip Color in Pink Dusk, a subtle pink-nude that is opaque on the lips with one swipe.

Nice mix of comfy and fashionable. That’s really the type of thing you need for a football party (though I usually spend Super Bowl parties chatting with the other people who hate the sport. Mostly swimmers and badminton fans…)

Super post, I love the outfit you chose, your Mulberry handbag is just pure deliciousness! I’m also a tennis fan (Come on Andy!) 😉 x
