Happy Monday! Today’s post is about a new product launch that I couldn’t be more excited about – Tom Ford’s new Lip Color Sheers for Spring 2014*. According to the press release, “sheer, natural, effortless beauty is the focus of the Tom Ford Spring 2014 color collection launching this March. This limited edition lineup contains eight new sheer lip colors and four new nail lacquer shades that harmonise shimmering nudes with accents of hot, sun-kissed color.”
I was lucky enough to get to try out the new lip sheers, which, according to the brand, have a “semi-translucent formula, in a distinct beveled form,” and “contain a blend of moisturizing ingredients, such as vitamin C and E, shea butter and other natural oils.”
After having tested out all eight shades, I have to say that the description is spot-on. The formula is incredibly moisturizing without feeling heavy on the lips, so you won’t have to worry about carrying around a balm or chap stick if you have one of these beauties on hand. To me they feel less thick and creamy than the Lip Color Shines. Instead, they have more of a balmy feel but are just as moisturizing. The brighter shades last a bit longer on the lips, about four hours through drinks and meals, whereas the lighter nude shades stay on for about three hours before having to reapply.
As far as shade selection goes, there is a color for everyone – whether you’re a nude lover or you fancy a bright lip, are into a shimmer or cream finish, Tom Ford has you covered. My personal favorites are Incorrigible, a bright, sheer raspberry-pink with very fine shimmer; Firecracker, a hot red-orange that is right on trend for S/S ’14 [and would look phenomenal with a tan]; Paradiso, a pink-coral that has a cream finish; Pink Dune, a gorgeous pearly-pink with fine shimmer that adds lovely dimension to the lips and makes lips appear fuller; and Summer Fling, a beautiful neutral pink with fine shimmer that is perfect for everyday wear.
The Lip Color Sheers retail for $49.00, which is steep for a lipstick. However, I think they are worth the investment if you’re looking for a great, moisturizing nude, or if you want a brighter shade that can take you through spring and summer.
