Sunday Style: Lounging Around

I’m not doing much on this sunny Sunday besides reading, writing and editing – quality time spent with my couch and laptop. On days like this I want to comfortable and not do much in the way of hair and makeup.

For my top I went with a black cami from Target and this incredibly soft neutral cardigan from JCrew. This type of sweater is great because it is warm enough for winter [perfect for layering], but can easily transition into spring because of its breathable fabric. The jeans I decided on are these lightweight stretchy ankle jeans from Free People and they are, without a doubt, the most comfortable pair I own. They aren’t the least bit stiff, and I love the lighter benny wash. To accessorize I went with a beaded bracelet to add a bit of color to this otherwise neutral look, and these cat rings from Francesca’s Collections – so adorable and very reasonably priced [note: I can’t find them online, but they still might be available in stores].

I went with a very simple, casual makeup today and started by applying a thin layer of L’Oreal’s Magic Skin Beautifier B.B. Cream in Fair. I find that I really don’t need a powder with this bb cream because of its semi-matte finish, so I completed my base with one of the best blushes out there, Nyx Powder Blush in Pinched. For an easy, neutral eye I applied a light wash of Mac’s Soba Eyeshadow, and then smudged Mac’s Teddy Eye Kohl on my upper and lower lash lines. For mascara I applied just a couple of coats of Maybelline The Falsies Mascara. To complete my makeup I applied one of my favorite lipsticks of all-time, Mac’s Patisserie. This lustre lipstick feels creamy and moisturizing, and the pinky-brown shade is the ultimate my-lips-but-better color. For a light, crisp fragrance Jo Malone’s Nectarine Blossom & Honey combines just the right amount of sweet and fruity, perfect for daytime.

On Sundays I like to take it easy on my hair and avoid heat styling since I blow-dry my hair every other day during the week. I towel-dried my hair well after I applied my makeup, and then threw it in a messy side braid which will [hopefully] result in pretty, casual waves.
