Summer Brights for Any Budget

The sun is really shining today, and I was inspired to do another spring/summer post. Today I want to talk about bright shades for summer – gorgeous pinks and corals that look incredible with a crisp white shirt or dress. Being that I always gravitate towards pale, neutral shades, I wanted to incorporate colors that are perfect for whether you want to dip a toe in bright shades, or if your motto is “the bolder the better.”

If you want to experiment with color: one of my favorite ways to add a pop of color to my look is with a sheer, bright gloss like Bobbi Brown’s Lip Gloss in Popsicle. This is my ultimate summer lip gloss shade as it provides enough color to wear on its own for a gorgeous glossy pout, or you can wear it overtop of a brighter pink lipstick. If you want a bit more color and prefer lipsticks and balms, go for L’Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick in Sunset Angora, a warm peach-coral, or Covergirl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm in Watermelon Twist, a sheer bright pink. Both formulas are moisturizing and feel incredibly smooth and comfortable on the lips.

If you’re saying “bring on the brights!”: for a bold, sophisticated coral I’m all about Tom Ford’s Lip Color Sheer in Paradiso. For a brighter, glossier pink-coral reach for Burberry’s Lip Glow in Mallow Pink; these glosses have a creamy, non-sticky formula and I love how you can sheer it our for a bright pink stain, or build the color up for a bold glossy pout. For the ultimate bright blue-based pink, Nyx’s Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Dolly Pink is where it’s at. This is another creamy, non-sticky gloss that provides beautiful, eye-catching color.

Finally, regardless of what color you’ll be donning on your lips this summer, you can always incorporate a fun pop of color with nail polish. A couple of my favorite bright shades are Essie’s Watermelon, a beautiful bright, deep pink, and Come Here!, a bright orange-coral.
