Let’s Discuss: No Makeup?

no-makeup

Today I want to discuss baring it all – I’m talking about going out completely makeup-free [OK maybe not completely makeup free, but perhaps with a tiny amount of BB Cream blended over my face]. I have been wearing eyeliner so frequently lately that it became weird to look at myself in the mirror without it, thinking ‘woah, that’s what my eyes look like?’

I wear makeup for two main reasons – 1. I just love the stuff, I love trying out new products, discovering new brands, and 2. I love how it makes me feel when I wear it – more confident, less self conscious. In an effort to feel comfortable without all of the extras [and also because I’ve been feeling sickly – it’s finals week(s)] I have been using very minimal products this week, sticking with just BB Cream, somedays, and adding a tiny amount of blush and mascara on others.

When I took the above photo I had left my house with just a drop of L’Oreal’s BB Cream, and for the first time in a while, I was really happy with what I saw in the mirror – even without liner, lipstick, shadow, etc. Don’t get me wrong – I still will go for a smudgy, smokey eye on a night out, but I’m happy that I now have the confidence to go out sans makeup and still feel as good as I do when I have a full face on.

Now I want to ask you guys – how comfortable are you without makeup on? Will you go out, whether it be to run an errand, or a lunch or shopping trip with just a bit of light foundation and nothing else? If you feel like you can’t step out your front door without it, I challenge you to go a few days with either nothing, or a bit of concealer and BB Cream.

I’ve been feeling more confident leaving the house without a stitch of makeup on, ever since I’ve started using (well finishing 1.5 bottles of) the Philosophy Miracle Worker with retinoid pads. They’ve gotten rid of so much redness on my cheeks, I love it!! K that totally sounds like an advertisement, lol.

You look gorgeous without makeup! I used to wear it all the time because I had terrible acne which is such a confidence deflator. Then I finally went through a treatment of Accutane which changed my life and I went through a phase where I hardly ever wore makeup because I couldn’t believe how clear my skin was. But, I love makeup and putting it on. I don’t feel like it makes me any more confident now because I love my skin… but it definitely helps enhance features. I have never used BB cream, but your post has me wanting to try it out!

On weekends I barely wear makeup just maybe concealer, because who cares what I look like going to Target! LOL And in the summer since its pretty hot so I’ll skip all the crazy makeup and just do BB cream, bronzer, concealer, and a shimmering eyeliner and I’m good! But like when I go to school and hang out with friends all the other times of the year I wear a full face, just because I like to! I really like hearing peoples thoughts on this matter so it was nice reading your post 🙂

I love to put makeup on but I can go without it. Majority of the time if I leave the house without makeup it is because I didn’t have time to put any on!

When my skin is fine, I usually don’t spend that much time on makeup. I will admit though, that even on “bare” days I usually do a little bit of concealer and light mascara. I gotta do something about those dark circles 😛

I almost never put make up on to go out, specially during the day..I use kind of like something to play with, when I feel like it 🙂

I don’t usually wear makeup because I’m really picky about what I can use (my skin is annoyingly sensitive to most brands). Shameless plug for bareMinerals… Ignoring the fact that I am a bit of a clutz and spill the minerals sometimes, I LOVE LOVE LOVE how it can calm my skin. I can’t wait until I get my hands on their new formula, bareSkin.

I’m definitely going to try to wear it more often because of all the pollution and free radicals in the air.

Btw, you look amazing without makeup!

If I have one of those days (this happenes either if I’m ill or a horrible rainy weekend day) that I only step out to go to the supper market or to buy a few things around my area, I wear nothing on my face. If I am meeting someone or going to work, the minimum is a BB or CC cream, concealer and marcara,
I never wear make up when going to the gym or if I’m on a beach vacation.

I don’t wear makeup at all,due to the fact of school and such. But if it’s a special occasion I’ll wear it or if I’m super duper bored and wanted to wear it.

This is interesting. I used to mark people as “weird” when they said they can’t go out with their bare face. This, of course, was my thought when I had baby-butt-soft-and-clear skin. Now that I got acnes and acne scars on my face (not a lot, just enough to totally make my confidence ZERO) I understand their reason. Make up can boost up my confidence to, let’s say, 50 of 100!

People do look better with make up, and some people (like me) use make up to cover the imperfections. I still try to use as minimum as possible because I think wearing too much will make my skin worse. If I’m not meeting anyone or being outdoor too long, I usually don’t put on anything after skin care 🙂

I’ve never been one to have to wear make up to leave the house. My challenge this month is actually no foundation, and it actually hasn’t been bad at all.

I went through a phase of having full makeup on each time I went to work or out with friends, that one day, I suddenly thought: ‘I can’t recognise my own face anymore’. In fact, I didn’t like looking at my face in the mirror without wishing I had my ‘better face’ on. I realised I needed to cut back, and after discovering BB cream and mineral foundation, I don’t use any liquid or cream foundation anymore.

I think I actually look better now, although there are more visible imperfections, but I look more like myself. It’s also less of a shock to look at my bare face! Haha.
