I feel like every foundation I have tried out recently has been fantastic, and this Mineral Velvet Creme foundation from Ashley Sievert is no different. Ashley is a makeup artist from New Orleans, and was kind enough to send me foundation samples from her line. This formula contains SPF 15, is oil-free and hypoallergenic and has a creme to powder consistency.
When I first swatched this foundation, it reminded me of a whipped cream foundation I got at the drugstore years ago [does anyone know what I’m talking about? Maybelline?]. The drugstore formula didn’t work out well for me – it was far too thick, and wound up breaking me out.
Ashley’s foundation, however, is not thick, and definitely did not break me out. Rather than being thick and creamy, the texture is light and airy, and blends seamlessly into the skin with minimal effort. This Mineral Velvet Creme foundation provides excellent coverage, but still looks very natural [re: not cakey in the least].
I really love how this foundation looks on its own without powder; on my skin, the finish is pretty matte, but definitely not drying. Those of you with dry skin would probably want to mix in a bit of moisturizer with this foundation when applying, to really ensure that your skin is hydrated throughout the day.
