Xoxo, Gossip Girl

Yes, you read this post’s title correctly. The other night I discovered that Gossip Girl is available on Netflix, so naturally, I had to watch an episode to wind down at the end of the night. Long story short, I read all of the novels in High School, and my roommates and I would sit and watch episodes together when the series was adapted for television during my junior year of college.

I fell back in love with Blair’s chic, minimal makeup look and decided to recreate it today, as it is so perfect for work or school. It incorporates soft brown eyeshadows, a natural pink blush, and a plump rosy lip.

I started by applying a mixture of Cream and Taupe [from the Lorac Pro Palette] all over my lids, up to the crease. Next, I applied Sable to the crease, and blended really well with my Mac 217. To further define my lash line, I applied Espresso to my upper lash line with an angled eyeliner brush, and added a little bit of Sable to my lower lash line. To open up my eyes, I applied Nyx Wonder Pencil to my waterline. For a bit of highlight, I added a small amount of Nude to my brow bone. I finished the eyes with a few coats of Maybelline The Falsies.

On the cheeks I used Max Factor Miracle Touch Creamy Blush in Soft Pink, and applied it by tapping the product onto the apples of my cheeks in a circular motion. For lips I first applied Charlotte Tilbury’s Bitch Perfect, because I don’t think there is a more fitting lipstick for Blair’s character [and could there be a more fitting name? I think not]. For a glossy finish I used Laura Mercier’s Lip Glace in Rose.

For a finishing touch, I applied Rimmel Stay Matte Powder to my t-zone with a Real Techniques Buffing Brush.
