The Friday Catch-Up, from florida

Hello from sunny Florida! We managed to squeeze a short vacation in before heading back to reality on Monday. I thought the 50 degree weather in DC was nice this past week, but I’ll take 75 and clear skies in Tampa.

I’ve been in spring-mode this past week, and have been loving light-weight layering tops, glow-y skin, and easy, slap-on-and-go makeup.

Wearing: Clothing – I picked up a couple of these spring-ready, incredibly comfortable sweaters from Madewell this week – I only wish they came in a greater assortment of colors. Makeup – all things gold and pink! I’ve been reaching for fuss-free gold shadow sticks, like Nudestix Gilt, and Laura Mercier’s Sand Glow, neutral peachy-pink lipsticks, like Dior’s Cherie Bow, and Clarins balm in 02, and things that up my bronze factor, like Charlotte Tilbury’s Beach Stick in Ibiza, and gloss in Blondie.

Eating: I’ve been trying to stick to eating relatively clean, and I felt a lot better this week because of it [much more energy, less bloated, etc]. I came up with a simple, yet delicious Quinoa recipe this week, which I will be sharing in a post on Tuesday!

Watching: re-watching Dexter, seasons 1-4 [the golden seasons, if you will]. If you guys have any show recommendations, please leave them in the comments!

Reading: I started to re-read one of my all-time favorites – Franny and Zooey – who else loves J.D. Salinger as much as I do?

Something extra: ever since I saw this stunning photo of Behati, I’ve wanted to snip away and get long bangs. Thoughts? Good idea, or will they be too much to style?

What have you guys been loving this week?

Definitely love that haircut. I’ve been wanting an update to my hair too but I’m undecided at the moment :/

I so started to re-watch Dexter about 2 months ago and yes, 1-4, the best years! I got hooked on The Killing though! But only season 1-2.

I happen to also love spring, especially in Brazil, since it is so hot in the summer. For seasons, if you haven’t already watched, Scandal, House of Cards and How to Get Away With Murder are a must! Also, for bangs, I’ve had a brief fling with them past summer and I can say from personal experience that although they look amazing, they are really trouble to manage. Sometimes mine looked great, but then they looked bad. Also, if you do cut, try to squeeze going for a little chop one time a month, since bangs grow so fast! Hope it helps.
