The Friday Catch-Up: The Best Scent Ever + More About Managing Stress

Days/weeks really do fly by when your job is to study all day, everyday for a test. The stress/struggle is real, but I’ve been doing a few things to help manage it, the most important of which is having a routine. To start my day, I’ll head down to the gym – this always, no matter what, improves my mood. After a few hours of studying, I’ll schedule a break to either go for a long walk with Julius, something I always look forward to. a few times throughout the week I’ll also treat myself to something at my favorite coffee shop down the street. It’s the little things.

Onto what I’ve been loving this week. . .

Wearing – still obsessed with my JCrew cyprus slides, which I’ve been wearing daily. I’ve also been lusting after so many things from Zara and Forever21 – basically, all of the crochet + eyelet things. Both stores have so many gorgeous tops right now at really affordable prices. Beauty-wise, I have been obsessed with Nirvana White from Elizabeth & James, Sunday Riley’s Juno, and Clinique lip products. If you haven’t tried Nirvana, please, go to your local Sephora and sample it – so, so good. Sunday Riley skincare is really something else – I can already see a difference in my skin after just a few uses. And Clinique, I have just been going crazy over the Chubby Sticks in Heaping Hazelnut and Woppin’ Watermelon [really don’t know why it took me so long to get on the Chubby Stick train], and Lip Pops in Melon Pop, Beige Pop, and my latest purchase, Nude Pop. Such pretty, wearable shades, great color payoff, and an incredible, moisturizing formula.

Eating – beefless beef. Ok – sounds weird, I know, and no, I am not a vegetarian. I saw this stuff in Trader Joe’s and figured I’d try it, as I have been either ordering out, or essentially eating chips and guacamole for dinner every night during bar prep. To prepare, I heat it up on the stove, mix in a bit of Trader Joe’s taco mix, and then either throw it in a bowl with some salsa, or make tacos with shredded cheddar. It tastes just as good as the real thing, only with far less calories. Yum.

Watching – Sons of Anarchy – we just recently started the series on Netflix, and are already hooked. One word: Jax. For something a bit lighter, I’ve also gotten back into The Office – I forgot how much this show used to make me laugh [especially the first few seasons].

      Thank you!! Yeah, I’ve been feeling a bit sluggish lately, so I seriously have to force myself to get down to the gym first thing [also helps that it’s in my building]. But no matter what, I always feel better when I go!

    I’ve been addicted to “The Americans” and “House of Cards” lately, as well as some older Tarte palettes that I found on sale a while back. I’m obsessed with it all!
