The Investment Pieces

Some products, you can skimp on. Others, well, when you find something that works, you stick with it, no matter the number on the price tag [ok, within reason]. The above are all put to use constantly; they are staples, and they make my routine easier.

Previously, I would head to my local CVS for all of my concealing needs. Sure, L’Oreal and Maybelline have offerings that get the job done, but not quite like Urban Decay’s Naked Concealer. Nothing smooths over imperfections, completely covers dark circles, and lasts all day long the way this guy does.

For eyeliner, I have two main faves. My Tom Ford liquid eyeliner, which I reach for when I want a clean, thin line or cat-eye [that I know will stay put without smudging], and Le Metier de Beaute’s Dualistic Eyeliner, which I use if I want a smokier feel. In addition to having a great liquid liner on hand, I think having a really solid pencil is just as important. A lot of pencil liners out there will drag [ouch], or disappear from the water line almost immediately after application. Not this one. Le Metier’s pencil is creamy, yet long-lasting, and, bonus, never irritates my eyes.

Onto bronzer. To me, a good bronzer is like the little black dress of a well-rounded makeup wardrobe. There are so many options out there, which unfortunately means that there are a lot of not-so-great-for-your-skin tone options [re: the way too orange, the glitter-filled, the powdery, the brown and muddy]. Charlotte Tilbury’s Filmstar Bronze and Glow is just right – a very finely milled tan shade that works both for sculpting cheeks and bronzing up skin.

Lastly, lips. Everyone needs a standby, my-lips-but-better shade that they can rely on when all else fails, amiright? When I don’t know what color to grab [out of the 6-7 lipsticks and glosses and are housed in my handbag on a daily basis], I always go for Tom Ford’s Pink Dusk. It is a stunning creamy pink-nude that looks just as lovely with a bare face as it does with a full-on smokey eye. AND, guys, it feels as gorgeous as it looks. An uber luxurious, rich formula that doesn’t dry out my lips, and wears for around 5 hours. Tom Ford perfection [what else would you expect?].

Now, tell me: what are your favorite investment pieces?

I think my favourite investment piece is actually my Guerlain Meteorites as I just feel like it pulls my make up altogether and …. has unicorn dust or something. It just perfects in the most subtle, beautiful way

The Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow (or any CT products) are always worth the investment!
