I was a massive Hanae Mori fan all throughout high school and college. Butterfly* was my fragrance of choice for all seasons; it’s flowery notes are light and fresh for spring and summer, and it’s deeper notes of blackberry, blackcurrant, and wood are rich enough for fall and winter. A perfect blend of sweet + spice.
In addition to having my perfume smell great, I also want it to last throughout the day – Butterfly doesn’t disappoint. I’ve been spraying it on my wrists and neck before I head out the door at 7AM as a final step in my morning routine, and I still get hints of it on my commute home at 6PM. Serious staying power, without being overpowering [re: people won’t stare at you in the elevator for wearing too much perfume].
If you’re looking for a great gift for the men in your life this holiday season, absolutely check out Hanai Mori HM*, a really gorgeous rich mix of woody scents and blackcurrant [since I’m not the greatest at describing fragrances, here is the official description – but trust me, you won’t be disappointed if you try it for yourself in-store: HM is a woody, oriental scent. The legendary fashion designer Hanae Mori worked with her sons Akira and Kei to create HM, a mixture of no less than 50 essences. Its top notes are lavender and black currant. The middle notes are iris, jasmine, Lily of the Valley and Bulgarian rose. The base notes are moss, vanilla, amber, Tonka bean, cedar and sandalwood].
And, I of course have to mention the packaging. I love the classic glass bottles, and the feminine and masculine closures for the respective scents. Definitely a chic addition to the top shelf.
