A Few Pretty Things…

Hello! I’m back. After like, a two month hiatus [with a few posts peppered in here and there]. Although it literally gave me anxiety at first to not be posting at least a few times a week, I had to do what I had to do [spend all of my time studying]. I am so excited to have more time now – and I’ll try to keep to an at least three-posts-per-week schedule.

Anywho, I wanted to share a few things I’ve been loving on this chilly Friday…

  1. Carven Le Parfum* – first of all, how sweet is this bottle? Dainty, delicate – all of the pretty words. And, what’s inside is even better. The scent is fresh, but a little exotic – and super long-lasting. Top notes of neroli, mandarin blossom, white hyacinth; middle notes of jasmine, ylang ylang, and sweet pea; base notes of white sandalwood and wood.
  2. Mac x Ellie Goulding Halcyon Days Palette – I. love. this. palette. so. much. Seriously, though, it contains four cream color bases that work on eyes, cheeks, and lips, and a blotting powder that does a great job of keeping shine away from the t-zone. I’ve read some mixed reviews, and I really can’t understand why. Some saying they aren’t pigmented enough….and yet, I don’t really think the cream products are meant to be intensely pigmented. It is called “Halcyon Days” after all – meant to help achieve an easy, fresh day look. I love the lightest shimmery color for essentially slathering all over my face. I dab it onto my cheek bones, the inner corners of my eyes, brow bone, cupid’s bow, down the bridge of my nose…everywhere. It adds the most gorgeous natural glow. I just can’t even. Too good. I also really love the peachy-pink shade – so good for popping right onto the apples of my cheeks – especially helps when I want to look more alive when I’m fading towards the afternoon. I’ve used the medium brown shade on my eyes when I want more of a cream shadow look [and I haven’t really had any problems with creasing]. I haven’t really experimented with the darkest shade – but I’m looking forward to this weekend – think I’ll smudge it along the upper and lower lash lines.
  3. Mac x Ellie Goulding Only You Lipstick – I don’t know if I can put into words how much I love the two Mac x Ellie Goulding lipsticks. Cremesheen formula [my personal favorite of the Mac formulas] so it’s a bit glossy, uber creamy, and overall really comfortable to wear, and the colors are my perfect everyday shades. Only You is a perfect muted pink-coral that I’ve worn everyday this past week. I may have to stock up on this shade because if it’s not made permanent, well, that would be tragic.
  4. Maybelline Lash Sensational + Kat Von D Tattoo Liner – my go-to duo for a quick, classic eye look. The Tattoo Liner’s brush is perfect for drawing really clean, crisp lines, and Lash Sensational helps to achieve the most voluminous lashes of life.

I loved your thoughts on the Ellie Goulding x Mac products – I can’t wait to swatch them in person! The cream palette sounds really interesting as I don’t have anything like it.
