I. Cannot. Believe that we have made our way to June – scary but true that time goes by faster the older we get. It feels like no time has passed since I moved back to New York, and that I took the bar exam yesterday [thank god that’s over with].
This is all to say that I want to make an effort to slow down, be more present, and enjoy little things about each day, instead of hoping and wishing for the weekend. Anywho, let’s get down to business and discuss what we came here for – makeup.
I have gotten out of my comfort zone a bit this past month with regard to color. Nothing crazy, though [you know how much I love my neutrals]: a pop of bright pink, and more of a peachy-brown matte to switch up the lip game. Also getting back into creams in a big way, as well as re-discovering a few old faves.
For lips, I’ve been adding color into my routine with Charlotte Tilbury’s Matte Revolution Lipstick in Bosworth’s Beauty, a stunning hot pink that can be applied in a really full-on way for more of a statement, or, can be blotted down for more of a sheer stain. I went with the latter approach this past holiday weekend, and really loved how it brightened my face – even when I was tired from staying out a bit too late the night before 😉 For a more natural lip, my go-to combo has been Mac Kinda Sexy paired with Chantecaille’s Lucky. Kinda Sexy is a really perfect peachy, nude-y brown that’s matte, but doesn’t dry my lips out. Lucky adds a really pretty pinky-golden shimmer overtop, and, I feel makes lips appear fuller.
On the cheekies I’ve been obsessed with Tom Ford’s illuminator, a gorgeous golden peachy-pink liquid that adds a seriously pretty glow to cheekbones [and really anywhere you want to put it]. I’ve also gone back to two OG favorites, Glossier’s Haloscope in Quartz, and what is probably my favorite blush of all-time, Le Metier de Beaute’s Creme Fresh Tint in Poppy.
For eyes, I’ve been re-using Charlotte Tilbury’s eye quad in Modern Muse, concentrating on the rose-y gold shade in the upper left hand corner. This shade opens up my eyes, and adds a gorgeous shimmer to lids. If I want to make things a bit more smokey, I’ll layer on CT’s Filmstar On The Go palette in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, a really nice cream bronze.
Lastly, I have to mention Ouai’s Wave Spray, which has been all over my Instagram as of late. This stuff smells amazing, and adds lived-in texture PLUS hold. Must try all the Ouai products.
