I think I first heard of Charlotte Tilbury when Tom Ford’s makeup line launched, around 2011. I somehow learned that she was the mastermind of the collection, and so I researched her work, tried to find her on YouTube, etc. I quickly became enamored with her techniques – her signature “mesmeric” eyes, and, how genuinely passionate she seemed about all things beauty.
I was ecstatic when I found out CT was coming out with a line of her own, so much so that I couldn’t wait for the line to come to the states to order a whole slew of products. A few first loves were Bitch Perfect lipstick [obviously – a must have, a perfect pink-nude], the already iconic Filmstar Bronze and Glow, and Pillow Talk Lip Cheat Lip Liner, aka, the most perfect lip shade to create a natural, pouty lip.
Whenever I use her products, I feel like I can’t go wrong. She intended this. Fool-proof shades and formulas, eyeshadows that blend with barely any work at all, multi-use creams and sticks that can be applied in seconds. My favorite quick, 3 minute makeup look using only CT products is a small amount of Magic Foundation, blended with fingers onto the T-zone [always working from the center out], a bit of the Ibiza Nights Beach Stick where the sun would naturally hit for a little bronze glow, Filmstar On The Go [the small eyeshadow-lip/cheek palette above] in Breakfast at Tiffany’s – a little shadow quickly blended with a finger over the lids, and the peachy shade popped onto the cheeks and lips, and lastly, a few coats of Legendary Lashes. Quick, long-lasting, and definitely pretty.
Since I am a self-proclaimed lip hoarder, I have to write about my strong love for all CT lipsticks, liners, glosses – all of it. The K.I.S.S.I.N.G. lipsticks are everything you’d want in a classic formula: hydrating, easy to apply, long-wear, add a little sheen. If you’re a neutrals lover like myself, you need Bitch Perfect, Nude Kate, and Stoned Rose. The Matte Revolutions are just that – revolutionary. They provide a gorgeous velvet-matte finish, and are incredibly comfortable and non-drying. I love the squared-off bullet lipstick shape – so perfect for application. I find that these, above any lipstick, really perfect my lip shape, and give the appearance of fuller lips. Trust me on this one – Very Victoria + a bit of Blondie lip gloss on the center of the lips.
If you’re more of an eye product lover, you must check out the Rock and Kohl liners – I love Bedroom Black and Barbarella Brown. If I could only use one pencil eyeliner for the rest of my life, I’d be choosing this one. The formula never snags or pulls – kind of similar to a gel or liquid, it glides on for a really precise finish. I also find that this formula never irritates my eyes, so I can really get right into the inner corners and water lines. For a really quick smokey eye, I love applying Bedroom Black on my upper lash line, winging out the line at the outer corners, and on both water lines [just be sure to sharpen often]. Add a little cream shadow in Bette, or pencil in Amber Haze [+ lots of mascara], and you’re off.
I really could go on for pages here, so I’ll end with this. Charlotte Tilbury is one of my favorite lines because all of the products I’ve tried are the best quality out there, and the shade selection is just beautiful. If I could only recommend a top three, I’ll say Pillow Talk Lip Liner 1000% percent, Wonder Glow [I know I didn’t even mention yet – a gorgeous, hydrating formula that adds a golden glow to skin and enables foundation to blend like a dream]; and Filmstar On The Go in Breakfast at Tiffany’s – I promise you won’t put it down all summer long.
OK. Phew. Have you tried anything from CT? What are your favorite products from the line?
