A Few New Things + Beating the Sunday Blues

Oh, Sundays. My love-hate relationship with this day of the week runs deep. On one hand, it makes me think of sleeping in, long brunches, and, now that we’re in to summer, playing outside. On the other, I think about how Monday is inevitable, and that I wish I could squeeze a few more hours out of a Sunday night.

In an effort to beat the Sunday blues, I’ve been trying to make the absolute most of the day. For instance, last weekend, we got up super early to head to the beach. Then went to brunch, walked around a small outdoor fair, and later spent the evening baking with a movie playing in the background. After a Father’s Day brunch today we easily could have come back home and lounged around on the couch for the rest of the night – especially after being out in the city on Saturday. Instead, we drove to the driving range. Really nothing like a little sun and activity to get the mind off Monday.

Back to makeup – what we’re here for, right? This past week I received a few very generous gifts from Urban Decay and Le Metier de Beaute, and, I very generously purchased a couple lip products for myself. I’ve been having some fun testing them out, and will absolutely be posting full reviews soon. For now, I’ll say the Naked Heat Palette is a warm shadow lover’s dream – get after it if you’re into a gorgeous copper smokey eye. Le Metier is one of my favorite brands out there, and the above After Glow blush/golden highlight duo is everything; I brought it out with me last night and it was perfect for perking my cheeks up post-dinner.

Last but certainly not least – Birthday Balm Dotcom, you guys. I’ve had so much fun playing around with cake scented, holographic-shimmer filled lip balm this past week. I love how this looks [and feels] on its own or paired with any lipstick. So moisturizing, and adds a really pretty shine to lips. Shop w/me here for 20% off!

The two lip things I picked up are ABH’s liquid lip in dolce, a gorgeous muted coral that pairs SO FREAKING WELL with the Naked Heat Palette, and Becca Cosmetics’ Liquid Crystal Glow Gloss in Champagne Dream x Bellini, a stunning shimmer gloss with an insane pearlescent finish. You must try these out in person to get the full effect.

What were you up to this weekend? Do you have any Sunday rituals?
