We are full-swing into summer now, you guys! Not sure if it’s a New Yorker thing, or an everywhere thing, but I feel like no matter what season it is, my friends and I will always complain about how hot/cold/humid/rainy/muggy/whatever it is. Today, it was hot. Very, very hot. And, I spent the whole morning on the golf course, getting pretty sun burnt. BUT. I’m not going to complain about how hot it was. It was a great day, we had a lot of fun, and it was a gorgeous, sunny day. I digress.
Let’s get into the makeup. Loved so much this past month! Beautiful highlighters, shimmering glosses – really, just a lot of warm-weather, summery things that I think are really lovely for an everyday look.
Too many lip products here, so that’s where I’ll start. Dior’s Tell Me Dior gloss may be fairly new to me, but I am already so. freaking. obsessed. Could this be my go-to lip product of the summer? Right now, I’m saying a big yes. Provides a good amount of color (SUPER PRETTY pastel pink), shine, hydration, and, is not the least bit sticky. I’ve been wearing it on its own, and, overtop of any nude-pink lip liner (CT’s pillow talk; Mac Boldly Bare; Rimmel Natural). Two more glosses I haven’t been able to get enough of are Mac’s Candy Box, a super gorgeous muted neutral pink that’s decently opaque, and Becca Cosmetics’ Crystal Glow Gloss in Champagne Dream x Bellini, a really fun, sparkly gloss that looks stunning in natural sunlight.
For lipsticks, I’ve got three awesome everyday shades to share with you guys – Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Dolce, a muted coral-peach shade (that has AMAZING lasting power), Le Metier de Beaute Marrakech, a gorgeous frosted pink (a pretty frost – trust), and Mac’s Honey Love, a won’t-wash-you-out peachy nude, semi-matte shade.
A final lip product I can’t go without mentioning is Glossier’s Birthday Balm Dot Com. A super moisturizing balm with holographic shimmer – this stuff has saved my crazy dry lips this past week. Oh, and it smells and tastes like Momofuku Milk Bar’s iconic dessert. Yas. Yum.
I’ve been obsessed with lots of glow on the cheekies. To achieve a seriously highlighted/glowy cheek/cheek bone area, I’ll start (most days) with Le Metier de Beaute’s Poppy, the prettiest natural pink cheek tint. I’ll then layer the highlight – Glossier’s Haloscope in Quartz, Stila’s Heaven Hue Highlighter in Transcendence (an UNREAL opalescent pink-purple highlight that I love on my inner corners), and Le Metier de Beaute’s After Glow Blush in Enchante (the most perfect peach blush + golden highlight).
There have been many days recently where I’ve gone all day without much of a break. When I know I’m going to have one of those days, I’ll usually apply a bit of powder to my t-zone in order to ensure things will stay in place, and not slip/melt away and leave me looking like a sweaty mess. However, I’m really not feeling the powdery vibes right now. To add a bit of moisture back into my skin after this step, I’ll let the powder set and leave things alone for a few minutes, and then spritz my face a few times with my trusty Glossier Soothing Face Mist. Like a refresh button for your face.
My final favorite for this past month has to be Charlotte Tilbury’s cream eye in Bette. To me, this is the ultimate summer eye – creamy, bronze, long-lasting, effortless. Apply it at 6am, go party all day. It will still be there 9pm at night. That, friends, is a ride-or-die product.
