Holiday Highlight

Although I’ve really been feeling a strong red lip this holiday season, my go-to look for any day, anytime is of a softer, more nude variety. To take a more paired down look from everyday to party: enter, highlight and gloss.

The highlight I have been using more than any other as of late is one by none other than makeup genius, Charlotte Tilbury. The Highlight Wand [as well as the contour] is truly beautiful. I think it lights up the cheekies in a way that I have never seen before with another product; it glows without ever looking patchy, dry or cakey. Also, a very small amount goes a long way – I can’t imagine running out of product any time soon.

The gloss is brought to you by Fenty Beauty’s Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer, a sort of dusty rose with lots of very fine shimmer that flatters every skin tone, looks like shimmery, sheeny perfection on its own or overtop of any lipstick [like Charlotte Tilbury’s Nude Kate, above]. I’m in love with the uber plush applicator that really covers the lip with one swipe, and honestly just feels nice to the touch. Another major plus is that rather than feeling tacky or sticky, Gloss Bomb feels like more of a really hydrating balm with a bit more slip.

As for the rest of the face, I kept things super glowy and natural with a much-loved duo, Charlotte Tilbury’s Wonder Glow [to prep the skin] + Nars’ Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer. I added a bit of a coral glow to the apples of the cheeks with Le Metier de Beaute Coral Nymph [a forever favorite cream blush], and contoured every-so-lightly with the CT Contour Wand. On the eyes I started with a cream [for a bit of extra glow – can you sense a theme here? ;)], CT’s Bette Davis, and then added a bit of the russet shade from the Dolce Vita Palette in the crease. To amp up the intensity, I tight-lined with a Chanel almost-black pencil, created a small wing with the Tom Ford liquid liner pen, and applied tons of mascara using L’Oreal Lash Paradise [currently on my fourth tube]. Lastly, to fill in sparse areas of my brows I used the Nudestix Eyebrow Stylus Pencil.

One look down, a few more to go this holiday season. Get ready for glitter, red lips, and glossy eyes. Now, tell me, what is your go-to holiday party makeup?
