Sharing makeup reviews, makeup favorites, and tips & tricks on how to achieve easy, glowy makeup looks. Oh, and mom life ;)

The Mom Edit

I knew I’d have less time to myself once my daughter was born, but man, some days I’m lucky if I can wash my face before 2pm. I definitely haven’t been applying makeup everyday, but the routine of it really makes me feel good – and feel more like myself. So I try to make time (~5-10 min!) when I can.

I’ve really edited my makeup bag down to everyday essentials, and products that I know I love and that can be applied quickly. If you’re in the same boat as me (have a cutie newborn and are running on an average of 3 hours of sleep per night), or, if you are just wanting to know how to put together products to help you achieve a quick, glowy makeup, here are my recs:

  1. A good concealer or light tinted moisturizer: I’m lucky that my skin is cooperating with me lately, so I’ve been skipping foundation all together and just strategically applying a creamy concealer to the central points of my face, as well as underneath my eyes. I’ve been using mainly Glossier’s strech concealer. I then blend out with an elf putty face brush – I LOVE this affordable brush and use it for cream bronzer and contour as well!
  2. Lots of creams! Cream bronzer, contour (if you want the extra step), and blush! Creams are just easier to work with and blend in my opinion – and if you really want to simplify your routine, I think you can skip brushes all together and just do a bit of concealer + cream blush with fingers, and top off with a couple coats of mascara and a lip color or gloss. My current favorite creams are Westman Atilier contour, Saie Beauty cream bronzer, and Nudestix Cherry Blossom.
  3. One-Wash-Wonder shadows! By this I mean some kind of neutral shadow that you can apply and not need any other shades. Bonus if they can be applied with fingertips! My current favorites are Mac All That Glitters, Chanel Underdone, elf Rose Gold and Revlon Caramel.
  4. Eyelash Curler and Mascara: If I’m only going to do one makeup related thing for the day – I’m curling my lashes and applying mascara. Nothing helps me to look more awake.
  5. A favorite lip color / tinted balm: I love a lip that provides a little color, feels nourishing, and adds a bit of shine! One and done kind of deal. Current favorites are Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip in Rose or Givenchy Rose Perfecto in 201.
